Considering the title of my blog, I decided to create a vegetable jam recipe. So here we go - a tomato jam recipe just for you. Strictly speaking tomatoes are not vegetables but let's just forget about that for today. 

I was actually very hesitant when I thought about hearty marmalade, as I love all those sweet jams so much. But let me tell you, this savory tomato jam really hit the spot.

Making this delicious tomato jam is very easy and you only need seven ingredients, including the spices. The main ingredient is tomatoes - of course. You can go for cherry tomatoes or cherry roma tomatoes, or even mix it up.

Now let's add some vinegar, garlic and maple syrup for a both sweet and savory hint. Last but not least, salt, paprika and cumin join the mix. A great combination, especially with the cumin which emphasizes the heartiness of the jam.

Now you're probably asking, how to eat it this tomato jam? Well, I can only recommend you to try it on your regular slice of avocado bread. My boyfriend and I love it this way. I can also imagine it works great as a dip for veggie sticks or crackers.

Description

You want to take your avocado toast to the next level? Then slather some of this savory tomato jam on top - you will not regret it!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cup cherry (roma) tomatoes, quartered (500 g)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 ½ tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Add the tomatoes, vinegar, garlic and maple syrup to a small pot and bring to a boil. Simmer covered on low to medium heat for 10 min. Stir from time to time.
  2. Stir in the spices and cook covered for another 5 min. Remove the lid and simmer for 15 min. 
  3. Store in a closed container for up to 8 days in the fridge.
