Spoil your loved ones with this indulgent dessert made of avocados and matcha. Creamy, sweet and refreshing! Who needs chocolate anyways?!
Valentine's Day is only a few days away! It's the perfect opportunity to spoil your loved ones. And that doesn't necessarily imply eating overly sugary sweets and cakes after a cozy meal. This rich and creamy avocado-dessert makes a great and tasty highlight to your romantic dinner and is also full of nutrients.
Avocado is a terrific fruit, don't you think (yes, avocados are fruits)? Whether spread on crusty bread with some tomato and salt, blended into smoothies for more creaminess or in a decadent dessert - avocados rock every dish.
The consistency of pureed avocados is simply perfect for spoonable desserts, almost like pudding. Also, avocados have hardly any taste of its own and are loaded with folic acid, potassium, iron, magensium and several vitamins - a big plus if you ask me. And I don't think I have to tell you anyhing about that rich, green colour!
To make this green colour pop even more, let's add some matcha tea, which is finely ground green tea that is associated with health benefits as well. If you don't have any matcha, just leave it out.
To sweeten things up, we add a bit of maple syrup - you can also use agave syrup if you like. A bit of lime juice delivers that hint of freshness, and coconut oil helps everything hold together. This way, you will get this firm but still creamy texture after freezing the creme.
The delectable, rich green cream is poured into small heart-shaped silicon molds that are then placed in the freezer. If you like you can place a slice of blood orange in the molds before adding the avocado creme - it will impress your loved ones even more.
While your dessert firms up in the freezer you can prepare the rest of your candle-light dinner for your valentine. It doesn't get any easier!

Recipe
Creamy Avocado-Dessert
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 120 minutes
- Total Time: 125 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
Description
Spoil your loved ones with this indulgent dessert made of avocados and matcha. Creamy, sweet and refreshing! Who needs chocolate anyways?!
Ingredients
- 3-4 small, ripe avovados (1 heaping cup mashed, 270 g)
- ⅓ cup coconut oil, melted
- ½ lime, juiced
- ⅓ cup + 1 tablespoon maple syrup (120 g)
- 1-1.5 teaspoon matcha powder ((optional))
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2-3 slices blood orange ((optional))
Instructions
- Cut the peel off the blood orange slices, if using. Place the slices in two or three small (4-5 inches / 11.5 - 12 cm) heart-shaped silicon molds.
- For the avocado cream, place the remaining ingredients in a blender or foo processor and blend until creamy. Make sure that all the ingredients are at room-temperature so that the coconut oil will not harden.
- Pour the creme into the silicon molds and place in the freezer for at least two hours.
- After that, carefully remove the avocado hearts from the molds and serve on plates. Let them thaw for 10-20 min until the desired consistency is reached (the longer you wait, the creamier it gets).
- Serve and store leftovers in the fridge for 2-3 days or in the freezer for longer.
