Hi everyone,
I hope you are liking my new blog so far. I’ve put a lot of work into it and I am very proud of me, setting it up all by myself – and with the help of some unknown folks on YouTube ;).
Let’s talk breakfast: Savory or sweet? I usually need to have something sweet for breakfast. Depending on the time of year, I might have a green smoothie or smoothie bowl, pancakes, oatmeal or a PB+J sandwich. From time to time, I also crave savory things in the morning. Then, I would usually have avocado on toast or a tofu scramble. (Unlike my boyfriend, I can’t eat lunch or dinner leftovers in the morning, though). Anyways, here in Germany people usually have bread for breakfast. I also grew up having bread in the morning but somehow lost the taste for it, while I was in the US (don’t get me wrong – I still love bread but not so much for breakfast anymore).
So today I have a sandwich recipe for you which you could make for breakfast or whenever you your heart (or stomach) desires a satisfying sandwich with a hearty chickpea patty. What you top it with is pretty much up to you, but I would suggest too add your favorite spread, tomato slices, some lettuce and maybe a slice of your favorite vegan “cheese”. If you want to bulk it up (even though it’s already very satiating), add some avocado or vegan mayo or whatever you like to have on your sandwiches. Here we go!
PrintChickpea-Patty Sandwich
- Yield: 6 1x
Description
This chickpea-patty sandwich makes a great savory breakfast! Or just eat it whenever you desire something hearty and satisfying.
Ingredients
Chickpea patty
- 1 1/3 cup chickpea flour
- 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp kala namak
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tp paprika or cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1–2 tbsp finely chopped herbs (e.g. parsley)
- 2 cups water or vegetable broth
- 6–8 buns (e.g. pretzel buns)
- tomatoes
- lettuce
- your favorite dip or spread
Instructions
- Whisk all the ingredients for the patties together until the dough begins to thicken.
- Heat a flat non-stick pan and grease dessert rings in the size of your buns with oil. Place as many rings as fit on your pan, pour some of the chickpea patty dough in them and cook on low heat for 10-15 min.
- Carefully flip the rings (HOT!) and press down the patty to cook it from the other side till for about 5 min till browned.
- Repeat with the remaining dough and prepare your sandwiches.
Notes
If you don’t have dessert rings, you can also make little pancakes from the chickpea patty dough and put 2 to 3 of them on your sandwich, depending how thick they are.
Well, I hope you’ll give it a try! You can also just prepare the patty dough and make little savory pancakes or omelettes. Gosh, I am getting hungry again!
I wish you all a wonderful day! It’s so beautiful right now. I will propaply take my dog for a walk now before a girlfriend from school is coming over for a visit.
See you next time!
