Hi There!
My name is Melanie, I am 35 years old and I live together with my husband and our Dalmatian Bella in the beautiful city of Berlin, Germany. Since 2013 I've been eating plant-based.
How It All Began

I have to go back a few years for this story. From 2009 to 2012, I was an Au Pair and student in the USA. At the time, I didn't really understand what a healthy diet was (or rather, I wasn't interested in it).
When I looked at myself in the mirror after my first two months in the USA, I was shocked. My face was much rounder than before and I looked pretty chubby. This was the point at which, for the first time in my life, I started to think about nutrition and my health.
I quickly realized what my problem was: I had a Double Chocolate Chip Frappucchino from Starbucks almost every morning for breakfast, at lunchtime I got myself a grilled cheese sandwich and in the evening I often had a burger with fries. Afterwards, I usually ate a whole (!) packet of chocolate-coated peanuts in front of the TV. No wonder I had put on so much weight in such a short time!
From High-Fat Omnivore to Low-Fat Vegan
As I simply felt uncomfortable in my own skin with almost 10 kg more on my ribs, I started researching online and reading blogs about nutrition. Little by little, I put the content into practice. I cooked my own food (not completely vegan at that time) and started exercising regularly. After a short time, I had lost weight again and felt much better in my skin. I also realized that I really enjoyed cooking healthily and creating my own recipes.
However, it wasn't until beginning my studies in nutrition in 2013 when I switched to an oil-free, plant-based diet with a focus on wholesome ingredients that I felt I had found exactly what I was looking for.
Since changing my diet, I have more energy, my skin problems in the form of acne have significantly decreased and digestive problems are now a thing of the past.
Off To The Kitchen!
Switching to a plant-based diet without oil can be a challenge at first. I hope I can inspire you to get creative in the kitchen with my vibrant recipes and show you that a plant-based diet with natural and fresh ingredients is not boring and also tastes great!
Enjoy!
