BBQ sauce from scratch sounds complicated? Nope! This fruity plum BBQ sauce needs just a handful of ingredients, takes less than 20 minutes, and delivers the perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and smokiness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 300 g (2 cups) plums, pitted & chopped
- ½ tbsp ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- ½ red chili, deseeded & minced
- 2 tbsp raw cane sugar (or coconut sugar, or maple syrup)
- 1 tsp molasses
- ½ tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp liquid smoke*
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a saucepan. Cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes.
- Blend until smooth.
- Pour into a clean jar and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
Notes
*No liquid smoke on hand? Use ½ tsp smoked paprika instead.
